I’m probably a geek, but…

I can’t get enough of this game/simulation thing… Powder Game

Seriously, WTF?

So it was brought to my attention the other day that my website looked… odd. I took a look at it and apparently someone had been nice enough to exploit a bug in some software I am running on my website and replace my site with a strange advertisement for an “Ottoman Empire”. I wish I had taken a screen shot, it actually made me laugh. It was so… weird. It had a list of hacker names and proclaimed that they were the “sons of the ottoman empire” and stuff. I guess they could be some kind of pseudo-terrorist organization, but it’s more likely they’re just a bunch of ass-holes putting up web-graffiti since my blog is like the Internet version of “the middle of nowhere”. Oh well, I’m back to normal again, and better than ever!

Back again… sort of.

If you’re seeing this, congratulations! You found me! You either talked to me, noticed that chrisblessing.net no longer works, or you accidentally typed chrisblessing.com and ended up with the proper page. Hooray you!

What does this all mean? First off it means my email address is now chris@chrisblessing.com (same with kim). Second, it means I’m not happy with Verio. Apparently my credit card expired so they couldn’t automatically renew my registration. This wouldn’t have been a big deal except that their control panel was so difficult to get to I couldn’t re-register in time and chrisblessing.net is now in “redemption” with a company in Australia (not Verio!). Yeah, I don’t understand how that works either. So I figured, ok, I will call Australia and try to get this straightened out and back to normal. *BZZZ* wrong! They want $150 to let me have it back! Ok, so what happens if I don’t pay the ridiculous fee? I have to wait over a month for them to finally re-release it to the public and I can try to get it back before someone else grabs it. Wonderful.

Sigh… This is why I’m now on chrisblessing.com. No big deal, just have to go through and update everyone on how to email me and get to my website.

A second helping of baby

Good news everyone… you’re all invited to celebrate my fertility! In about 8 months Rianna will be the proud sister of… um… her sibling! That’s right, Kim’s pregnant. So far it’s the same as before: no morning sickness, hooray! Last time Kim actually lost her propensity for motion sickness, which meant I was able to “drive it like I stole it” without causing her to vomit. That would come in handy this year with the travel we’re planning.

Anyway, big high five to the ‘nads, good job guys!

Rianna, the video star

It’s been a REALLY long time since I last updated (Rianna is 4 months older!) but I have good news. I’ve started uploading videos of Rianna in action! There’s a link on the right that shows the recent videos I’ve uploaded so you can click and watch them. My video editing skills are pretty poor, and I haven’t figured out the best video format for uploading yet, so forgive the annoying scan lines. Quality and quantity should improve as time goes on…

Rianna’s First Birthday!

As of October 5, Rianna is 1 year old! To celebrate the occasion both my mom and Kim’s mom flew in to visit. We have all had a great time, and there are a whole lot of pictures to post. Due to a lack of storage space on my web server I’ve decided to start using the Google Picasa service. It’s pretty nice, and easy to use (and free). Check it out.

One of the cool features is that you can view and print the photos like normal, but then you can also order actual prints (they charge for those of course). Give it a look and let me know what you think.

Making good progress

Chris has brain damage…

I’ve heard there are people out there who wake up “bright-eyed and bushy-tailed”… I’m not one of them. If I’m fully awake by the time I get in the car, it’s a good day. Today was an average day, but it started off strange.

I was brushing my teeth like normal, with my electric toothbrush, and I went to spit. For some reason I didn’t realize that I had not turned off the toothbrush as I took it out of my mouth. All of a sudden the side of my face, the mirror, and the sink were spattered with a liquified toothpaste/spit mixture. It still took me a few seconds to figure out I needed to turn off the toothbrush.

Sorry, there’s no punchline, just me and my brain damage.

We’ve got a walker!

Wow, it’s been a long time since I last updated… I’ve got lots to talk about and to show everyone, but my first act will be Rianna’s first steps. Behold!

Isn’t that cool?! I think it’s intensely cool. She will be 10 months old on August 5th, and it looks like she’s well on her way to competing in the 2025 World Cup. You have doubts? Take a look at this!

Virginia is for lovers…

Well, it’s official. Starting around the end of April I will be spending two years in Manassas, Virginia. Home of the Bobbitts. Land of 10Mb/s broadband over power lines. So you’ve got to take the bad with the good, I guess.

Why will I be subjecting myself to two full years on the east coast? Well, Micron presents a pretty sweet deal when they want to. Not only will I be gaining two years of good resume fodder. I will also be well compensated for my time and inconvenience. To illustrate: Kim will not be required to work while we’re living there, whereas now we can’t pay the bills without her income. That just rocks.

Should be plenty of interesting stuff to post up here while I’m over there. Also, 10Mb/s Internet, that’s so sweet!
